Writing this early in the morning could be disastrous

It is 7:02 in the morning and what should I be doing. Well, not writing in my blog, nor waiting for my tea to steep. Nope I should be getting ready for work, I should be ironing a shirt. Ahhh the wonderful joy of sweater vests and suit coats, no one need know that you were just too lazy to iron a shirt this morning.

I am watching Dancing With the Stars again. Yes, I realize that this makes me a 60year old woman but I just love it so. I also believe that Kirstie Alley will be a white hot mess and I love it. Also, Battle Star Galactica is back on and I have won another convert. I have tried Californication and Weeds and found them both to be wanting. More than anything I really think it is because I just don't like David Duchovny as anyone other than Fox Mulder, and Mary Louise Parker I think I could just do without. Speaking of Fox Mulder I think I shall start watching the X-files soon.

I feel like I need to comment on a few political issues...So here it is, if you think you could deal with a large part of the Arab world falling apart, a HUGE earthquake, tsunami, nuclear crisis combo in Japan, a long term recession in the US, and a Congress full of crazy people who will not compromise, then, fucking run for the Presidency or shut the hell up about it. I get that this President has made some moves that I don't particularly like but seriously right now he has got a bit more than normal on his plate. So please complain about every move he makes because you feel like it will score your team political points. Please be for something until he does what you want him to do, then be against it. The douchebaggery on "news" programs and in political blogs has hit a whole new height. Oh and just in case liberals think that I am solely talking about conservatives, you need not feel comfortable. Liberal cognitive dissonance (look it up) has also been taken to new oxygen deprived heights, to numerous and wide ranging to describe here.

O.K. off to get ready for work.

Yes TODD! window treatments are a necessity

So in my constant war with Todd to get window treatments for the house, another battle has been fought and this time won by me. So Todd has horizontal blinds in the windows in the living room and dining room with no curtains or drapes. This has been a source of much consternation for me since I believe in my gay heart that a room is not complete until there is some sort of window treatment that does not include a blind. So the battle I won was the other day at World Market I got Todd to agree that he liked the window curtains and actually stated that we could get some. Oh yes if he thinks that he was only placating me for a moment he is very wrong I will get my window treatments, oh yes, they will be mine.

Forgetfulness and I am not good at this Lent thing

I officially forgot to call my brother Sean on his birthday. I talked about calling him the day before and most of the day of and forgot to call him because I decided not calling him on the way home from Holland. Nice Michael Nice. I of course got home and promptly forgot to call him and that it was his birthday until 12:03am. I will say that I have a good excuse I was watching Battlestar: Galactica, ok so that is not a good excuse.

So this week I officially made it only one week into Lent before breaking down. Molly (my manager) bought me a Shamrock Shake from McDonald's. Now I don't know if you know the wonderfulness that is the Shamrock Shake but needless to say I drank around 600 calories. It was good, yummy. I did not eat anything for the rest of the day which I think balances the breaking of my Lent promise.

I have now lost 9lbs...I started my new running adventures in January at 213lbs and I now weigh 204lbs. YEA! I am feeling pretty good about running and being able to run the 5/3 riverbank run 25k. I also have not had the sickness issues that I had all last winter which has been very helpful.

Oh and Erin...my super best friend I would like to thank you for YEASAYER! Oh yes Erin has seemingly turned the tables on me I douched out on Scissor Sisters with her and she repays me, because she is a wonderful friend, with going to see Yeasayer with her. AWESOME!

I am giving up WHAT?

So I never give anything up for Lent, I am not very religious and just don't see the point. If you believe in this stuff is giving up chocolate really the same as Jesus going out into the desert and fasting for 40 days or you know dying on the Cross. Probably not. So anyway, there is my annual Lent is pointless rant and here I am giving crap up, really I would like to say I am choosing a convenient time to go on a diet. Todd's diet to be exact which is forcing me to give up carbohydrates at home and candy all the time. Now for all who know me, know this, I love both. I can and have made myself sick eating candy I am a candy freak, FREAK! I love all candy, hard, gummy (especially gummy), chocolate (dark)...I love it all. This is also the best candy time of the year, in my humble opinion, there are jelly beans of all favors and varieties, peeps, Cadbury Creme Eggs!, Sweetarts in fun little Easter shapes, chocolate covered marshmallows, and so many more. And Todd would have me believe that this will make all of this special when I can have it but I have found a loophole in Lent. For all of you who don't know the Catholic tradition, Lent is 40 days long but actually the time period from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday is 47 days long. Odd you say, why yes you get Sunday.

I am looking forward to a nice weekend I have Saturday off. Tonight is Margaret Cho with the gays, I believe that we are going out to eat before or after. Today I have to run (3miles) then some running around today. We have to introduce Lucy to Todd's sister's dog Tillie that should be fun. Tomorrow is a long run (6miles) and hanging with bf Erin. I am looking forward to a good weekend.

A week of Kings, Queens, and a Lady

Well February 2011 is finally done and I am glad for it. It was cold dreary and depressing, now I can look forward to March and spring being around the corner.

I had a fun week this week it started with Lady Gaga for the second time thus the title of my post. The queens were out in force in Grand Rapids to see Lady Gaga I personally loved it. More important then Lady Gaga, yes there is something more important, were the Scissor Sisters. They opened for Lady Gaga and were FABULOUS, I am totally in love with both Jake Shears, and Babydaddy, oh yes my friends they are hot as hell.  So they played "Take Your Mama Out"  a personal highlight. Of course this all means that I owe Erin HUGE, we could have seen them in Royal Oak but I begged out because I am getting old and it was a Sunday night, super lame. Erin this I promise you, we will see the Scissor Sisters together.

I had the day after the Lady Gaga concert off because I knew it would be a hard day to wake up and go to work. I went to see Paul fresh back from his vacation in Geneva and Barcelona. He had many good and fun adventures, ah I wish I could have been there. It sounded so very fun and exciting. He bought be some fantastic Rooibos teas in Barcelona.  After Paul I went back to GR.  Todd and I went to the "King's Speech" and excellent movie, I think that the Oscar for my mythological bf Colin Firth was well deserved and I loved Helena Bonham Carter as the Queen Mum. I still think that Colin Firth did a much better job in a "Single Man".

I of course promptly got sick after the Lady Gaga concert some sort of head cold that will not go away. Needless to say I have not run this week but rest assured I will start running again and I am going to run the 25k.
Todd and I also have started watching "The Tudors", it is pretty good, it gets history totally wrong but pretty good. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is hot as Henry VIII.

So this was my week of Kings, Queens, and a Lady.
